All ages from 3 up
Lakeside Karting accommodates all ages from 3 years up. We have one of the largest circuits in the South East for young drivers aged 8 and over, and a separate, exclusive children's circuit for kids from just 3 years old.
Timed race sessions are the perfect karting session for children and family groups, with different sessions for beginners and advanced drivers so everyone can get some laps in. Sessions include racewear, an online video safety briefing and registration, and an electronic lap time printout emailed to your inbox.
Family Fun, for novices
Family Fun sessions are the perfect introduction to karting for people who have not driven a kart before. Speeds are restricted to a maximum of 24mph, similar to indoor karting but more fun, giving drivers time to learn both the kart and the circuit in a safe family environment.
Family Race, for experienced drivers
Family Race sessions are strictly for people who have karted before. The karts are fast and drivers should expect overtaking in a race style environment. The best drivers may reach the top of the rev range, a maximum applied to protect the engines. Karts can reach speeds of up to 50mph.
Parents please note: all karts are fitted with an electronic safety system which can be operated by the race director at any time and at their discretion.
On the day
Following a comprehensive video safety briefing you and your family take to the track for your driving session. Once completed you receive your personalised printout by email, detailing all your lap times with a breakdown of the fastest lap and average speed. Sessions run in 30 minute slots for drivers aged 8 and over. Pre booking is essential.

Good to know
When should I arrive at the circuit?+
You will be given an arrival time when booking. For events this is 1 hour before your track time, for practice sessions 45 minutes beforehand. If you arrive after this time, even by 5 minutes, it may affect your time on the circuit. If you are more than 10 to 15 minutes late you may lose your slot altogether. If you are late you will not receive a refund under any circumstance.
Is there adequate car parking?+
Yes, there is plenty of free parking for all.
Do I need a driving licence or special licence to race?+
No. Many of our regular customers hold no licence at all. We provide full instruction, and all drivers must attend a safety briefing and view the National Karting Association safety video.
